Us, Spoil Yursel and Orkney!
Spoil Yursel was created by us, Kenneth and Kirsten Sinclair. We are both true Orcadians, born and brought up in Orkney with Orcadian Mums, Dads, Grannies, Grandads and so on...! We hope to bring to you, through our products, a taste of the true nature of Orkney...

We live in Kirkwall with our 2 boys, Gavin (4) and Jack (1), our Labrador Jago, 2 rabbits and various fish! Kirsten has a small business doing Podiatry, Reflexology and O2 Detox treatments. Kenneth, along with his parents, runs the cafe, bar and shop in Kirkwall Airport.
We both love animals and are against animal testing so we have sourced our products from cruelty free sources. This is an integral part of Spoil Yursel and our beliefs.
The idea for Spoil Yursel first came to light when Kirsten was trying to think of something else she could do alongside her current business that she was interested in, she'd enjoy doing and wouldn't take her out of the house so she could still be with the boys. After much umming and aahing and many disregarded ideas she came up with the idea of starting her own toiletries business. She has always been interested in toiletries and cosmetics and can remember her cousins laughing at her with all her lotions and potions for her face when she was 12! After a lot of research and brain storming Spoil Yursel was born!
All of our products are made with a good dash of Orkney as the main ingredient. Orkney is a beautiful and versatile but unpredictable place to live. It can be, very occassionally (!) bright and sunny and more often very rugged with rolling tides. There are many gorgeous beaches and dozens of archaeological sites which are a beautiful and haunting reminder of times past. We have lots of wildlife from birds to otters for animal lovers. The seas which surround and dominate the islands hold secrets from history in the form of wrecks from the World Wars along with the varied sealife which attract divers to the islands. Our products aim to pick up the essence of Orkney in their attractive appearance, wonderful scents and their individuality and uniqueness which you will find by having a look and trying them out.
One of the many quirks in Orkney is found in the people who live here. There are many interesting and amusing characters living in Orkney, all with tales to tell whether they be young or old. The tales will be told in the sing song of the Orcadian dialect. Many of our products are named with an Orcadian or Scottish quirk, incorporating Orcadian and Scottish words, pronunciations and connotations. 'Sleepy Heids' bedtime bath for getting the 'peedie' (or big) folk to sleep, 'Coorse Wark' soap to soften rough hands...
We hope you enjoy looking through our products and can invoke, through our Spoil Yursel products, the true essence of the Orkney Islands and the people who live here along with the quality and uniqueness of the produce that the islands inspire.
